CAROUSEL CHARITY HORSE SHOW, Scottsdale, AZ, March 11 - 14, 2010
Everyone had a blast during the Carousel horse show here at West World in Scottsdale, AZ! The weather was sunny and bright, yet not too hot. This made it great for showing as our riders and horses didn’t have to endure the 100+ degree temperatures we are often faced with!

Michelle McVey showed four year old Stylish Dancer in the park pleasure Jr. horse class and came out second in the qualifier with ease as a seasoned pro. No surprise there!

In equitation, Tori Lyons and Emily Chapman guided their horses perfectly with poise and looked beautiful doing so. Each of their mounts are not fully equitated, yet the girls seemed to handle the challenge very well; it was a great show for them both.

Lauren Rangel and her horse Cash Crop brighten up the show ring with two amazing rides in the show pleasure Jr. exhibitor class bringing home a third and a fourth in a very competitive class. Everyone was so proud of them both. Also in the show pleasure division was Marshalle riding Desert’s Terrific Wine. Marshalle rode the hair off of Shiraz and gave everyone a run for their money, making great passes and making no mistakes.

The adult show pleasure class was full of excitement. Elana Nager rode Shiraz earning a fourth in a very tough class. Yet Elana held her own with a great ride with many awesome passes!

In the country pleasure divison was Hailey Schatzberg riding Classic Star. It was Hailey’s first show in a full suit but you certainly wouldn‘t know it. She looked beautiful in her new grey suit, rode aggressive and made sure the judge saw her. Everyone was cheering from the stands and it was a great show for Hailey.

Caroline Cogliani was entered in the Jr. exhibitor five-gaited class and racked around like a pro. She handled her horse New Best Friend very well and rode just as hard! Caroline reached down in the line up kissing Booger on the neck showing her true passion for her riding. All the practice is paying off.

In the five-gaited show pleasure division Lauren Benecke stirred up conversation with an amazing ride on her mount Callaway’s Shotgun. Elvis and Lauren were flying at the second direction rack where everyone smiled and enjoyed the ride just as much as she did. She has mastered her rides on Elvis and it shows with every ride she has.

In the Friesian division Morgan Bradbury rode Kieran to victory in the English pleasure amateur class with an eye-catching ride! Kieran floated around the ring and made no mistakes! Kieran also dominated in the open Friesian English pleasure class with owner Erin Rae Smith. Then again in the qualifier and championship he made two wonderful victory passes.

Sara Mayer showed Siete in the Friesian walk and trot division coming out with two victories. She graciously rode with no difficulty and had a lot of fun which we always love to see! Her ride was a blast to watch.

Jennifer Horn was a star in the open English pleasure class with Deposit Required. She showed no nerves and guided him around the ring with simplicity. As we are talking about the Horn family, congratulations are in order on their recent purchase of Believer’s Beware for the walk and trot 10 and under division with Katie Horn. This will be an unstoppable adorable match. That was not the only good news for the Horn family, Katie Horn riding Tobias won the academy equitation 8 and under walk and trot class with the biggest smile. She returned with a second in the showmanship class in a tough field of 9.

Also in the open all breed class was Michelle Costalas on Shiraz, which was her first time back in the ring in a few years. Even though there was a lap in time of no showing, Michelle pushed Shiraz to another level. He looked great and as did she.

For our young academy stars this show was a show to remember! Caitlin Bickle won her first blue ribbon in the showmanship walk and trot 9 and 10 year old class. Bringing tears to her mother’s eyes, Caitlin had a ride of a lifetime. In the 11-17 walk and trot class Molly Stellino also won her first blue ribbon, and it was her first show! Alex Shaw was second in the WTC 10 and under class on Shiraz, adding a nice ribbon to her wall. Audrey Smith wearing her new outfit was full of personality and smiles the days she showed and was determined to try her best and have the most fun. She had an awesome ride in the lead line 8 and under walk and trot class on Tobias. Emily Burg put on a great show riding Lacey winning a nice second in a tough 11-17 WTC class. She has become a remarkable show rider and has made everyone proud.
